ALBERTA: EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER (EMR)
BRITISH COLUMBIA: EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER (EMR) with Mandatory Paramedic in Industry Certification (PII)

 

  • Primary level for pre-hospital care
  • Undergone minimum of 130 hours of classroom training
  • Trained to use the fundamental patient assessment techniques for responding to medical and trauma emergencies
  • Trained for Pharmacology, glucometric testing, MCI management, traction splints, pulse oximetry and airway management which includes oxygen, artificial airways, suction devices and assisted ventilation
  • Qualified in use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED)

INTERMEDIATE CARE

Industry standard for medium volume/high risk capable of emergency response and transport with standard drug protocol

 

ALBERTA: EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN AMBULANCE (EMT-A)
BRITISH COLUMBIA: PRIMARY CARE PARAMEDIC (PCP)

  • Intermediate level for pre-hospital care
  • Accomplished the prerequisite EMR program
  • Undergone a minimum of 360 hours of classroom training
  • Completed 40 hours in hospital practical
  • Completed all required calls on Ambulance Practicum
  • Trained in airway management with airway adjuncts, suction and ventilation, oxygen therapy, spinal immobilization, splinting, medication administration including intravenous infusions, basic diabetic, cardiac, airway and pain control medication
  • Qualified in 3 lead heart monitoring

 

ADVANCED CARE

Highest level of emergency care for high volume/high risk. Includes leading edge equipment and life saving medications

ALBERTA: EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST – PARAMEDIC
BRITISH COLUMBIA: ADVANCED CARE PARAMEDIC (ACP) with Mandatory Paramedic in Industry Certification (PII)

  • Advanced level for pre-hospital care
  • Accomplished EMR and EMT program completed as pre-requisite
  • Completed 2 year diploma graduate program
  • Hospital and ambulance practical completed through both years of education
  • Intermediate Practicum (minimum of 480 hours)
  • Hospital and Community Relations (minimum of 316 hours)
  • Advanced Ambulance Practicum (minimum of 576 hours)
  • A minimum of 1,232 hours of classroom training
  • Graduate with Diploma and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, International Trauma Life Support (Advanced), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certifications
  • Capable of advanced skills including extensive drug therapy treatment for medical and trauma emergencies, advanced airway monitoring and treatment with intubation and medication, and advanced cardiac monitoring and treatment
  • Qualified in 12 lead heart monitoring and interpretation with treatment in the field

All of our medical units exceed industry standards, have 4 wheel drive, meet Transport Canada CMVSS roll over protection requirements and are maintained on a strict maintenance schedule.

Mobile Treatment Centre (MTC):

  • Trauma kit which includes equipment for:
    • Diabetic emergency
    • Respiratory emergency
    • Cardiac emergency
    • Severe bleed
    • Burn kit
    • Spinal injury management
    • Patient vital monitoring equipment
    • Splinting equipment
    • Biohazard kit
    • Airway kit with oxygen
    • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) with heart monitor (BLS or ALS Package dependent)
    • BLS or ALS Airway kit for higher level of care
  • Treatment room with a chair
  • Ability to transport 3 patients
  • Reliable communication between the driver and the MTC back
  • Custom safety step into MTC back
  • Basic and advanced life support equipment available
  • Pain control medication BLS or ALS Package dependent
